German Shepherd Rescues in Montana

Our search for a German Shepherd rescue in Montana took us to Missoula, Great Falls, and Manhattan. Below are the details of what we found to be the best GSD rescues in the state.

1. Montana German Shepherd & Working Dog Rescue

Montana German Shepherd & Working Dog Rescue is a registered non-profit organization in Missoula, Montana.

The Rescue’s goal is to save German Shepherds and dogs of other working breeds, including Belgian Shepherds, Dutch Shepherds, and Border Collies.

Rescued puppies and adult dogs go through a professional evaluation to determine their social skills and temperament. They then go through training to make them adoptable.

Once the Rescue personnel are sure a dog is ready for adoption, they post it on their Montana GSD & Working Dog Rescue Facebook page to make it available to prospective adopters.

Adoption Process and Contacts

The adoption process at the Rescue commences with completing an adoption application. You will access the application by following the link at the end of every dog’s bio.

The approval of the application initiates the screening process. Screening an adopter involves an introductory phone call, a vet and personal references check, and a virtual home visit.

Although the Rescue does not have a website, it has a vibrant Facebook account with all the details regarding the dogs and the Rescue’s activities.

Besides, you can visit the Rescue headquarters at Missoula, MT, 59808, or email [email protected] for any inquiries.

Maclean-Cameron Animal Adoption Center is a non-profit organization in Great Falls, Montana. The Center is dedicated to sheltering abandoned dogs and cats in a caring, humane environment.

The Center was constructed in 2015 and took its name after the donors who worked with other volunteers at the Animal Foundation of Great Falls to create a modern Center. Having its roots in the Foundation is the reason Maclean-Cameron Animal Adoption Center is a DBA of the Animal Foundation of Great Falls.

From the onset, the adoption Center has worked to promote a community that values the welfare of animals. By educating and training the community, personnel at the Center strive to create a strong and lasting bond between humans and animals

The Center provides safe shelter, care, and fun for needy dogs and cats, with the hope that they can find a loving and lasting home someday

And that’s where you come in!

You can collaborate with Maclean-Cameron Animal Adoption Center as an employee to provide animal care and vet services or at the kids’ education camp.

  2. Complete an adoption application and an ASPCA Meet Your Match Survey.
  3. Attend a meet-and-greet once your application is accepted. You’ll be expected to bring along any pets you already own.
  4. Provide a photo ID and proof of residence
  5. Pay the adoption fee and bring home your GSD.

The adoption fee is between $120 and $200 depending on the dog’s age (puppies cost more).

3. Human Society of Northwest Montana

The Humane Society of Northwest Montana, also known as Charlotte Edkins Animal Adoption Center, is a no-kill pet adoption center in Manhattan, Montana.

The Center began in 2002 and has benefited from the generosity of many sponsors to construct buildings at the Humane Society’s headquarters and acquire an adjacent dog park.

The Humane Society rescues and rehabilitates animals for adoption by working with communities of the Northwest Montana region.

In addition to providing shelter and adoption services for abandoned animals, the Center runs other community services. These services are geared toward educating adults, students, and children on animal welfare and safety.

Besides, they have other services that support pet owners in the community, including:

  • An Injured Animal Fund that helps low-income pet owners pay vet expenses.
  • A low-cost Microchip Clinic.
  • A Pet Food Assistance Program that distributes pet food to needy families and animal rescues and shelters in the area.

As a 100% volunteer center, the Human Society of Northwest Montana relies on generous individuals who wish to gift their time to animal welfare for free. Donors and fosters are also a core part of the Center’s mission, and so are animal lovers who wish to adopt.

German Shepherd Dog Clubs in Montana

As with the Rescues, finding a German Shepherd club with a website of reference was not fruitful, even though the German Shepherd Club – MT has a Facebook account that needs updated info.

Where a German Shepherd Dog Club is hard to find, joining an all-breed club can connect you with other breed lovers and provide reliable info on GSD rescues. We recommend the Gallatin Dog Club in Bozeman. You can visit their website here.
