Harry Potter Star Daniel Radcliffe Uses Wizardry to Boost Rescue Dog Adoption

Last Updated: April 21, 2024
  • Daniel Radcliffe joined “The Late Show” to help promote the adoption of rescue dogs.
  • Radcliffe and host Stephen Colbert entertained viewers with humorous pitches for the shelter dogs.
  • Radcliffe showcased one dog named “Harry Pupper,” adding a touch of Harry Potter nostalgia to the segment.

Daniel Radcliffe sprinkled some enchantment to support an animal shelter’s efforts in finding homes for adorable pups during his recent appearance on “The Late Show.”

Promoting Animal Rescue

The pups were from the North Shore Animal League America. All the fur babies from the shelter are superstars, especially those that got the chance to stay up late and strut their stuff on the show.

The former “Harry Potter” star, alongside host Stephen Colbert, spun a few magical tales to boost the charm of these already lovable dogs in a segment called “Rescue Dog Rescue.”

Radcliffe took a nostalgic turn, reminiscent of his Hogwarts days, as he showcased one of the furry candidates.

“This is Harry Pupper. He is a powerful wizard. I’m sorry, I read that wrong. He is a powerful whizzer. You’re gonna want to put a pad down for him,” Radcliffe quipped, earning a drumroll for his comedic prowess. The 34-year-old Broadway star of “Merrily We Roll Along” could easily charge a two-butterbeer minimum for his dog-themed humor.

Both Radcliffe and Colbert had the audience in stitches with their witty banter. Colbert reassured viewers about an older dog, joking, “And don’t worry: If you have a nut allergy, he no longer has any.”

Each year, approximately 3.1 million dogs find themselves in the care of animal shelters, as reported by the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.

At World of Dogz we love to promote animal welfare and rescue.
